AO Technical Scopes Technical Scope

Rigid Scopes
AO Rigid Scopes are designed around universality and modularity. We offer a range of diameters Ø 1.80 mm to Ø 14.00 mm all at standard lengths. However, since you are now dealing with a seamless research, design, manufacturing network, you may request differing lengths depending on your application! We will quote you separately for any custom design ideas you may have. We welcome your thoughts!

In terms of universality and modularity, all rigid scopes come as a basic unit that are missing an objective unit at the distal end. Enhancing this basic unit with a variety of exchangeable lenses, extenders, reflectors or lens tubes, you now have the power to control your cost, inventory and time! The result is over 200 different combinations for the basic unit, allowing you to select viewing angle, aperture and overall length you really need. Buy various types of objective lenses, instead of various types of scopes to save you money!

Interface your AO rigid scope with photo or video cameras and now you can document any type of finding you come across. Utilize our PC-based image archiving software to maintain your documentation and pictures for safe, long-term access.

Flexible Scopes
AO Flexible Scopes are specifically designed to allow viewing of hidden orifices, cavities inside castings or curving tubes, engine compartments, or any area that a rigid scope cannot access. These are available in diameters ranging from Ø 0.35 mm (Miniflex product line) to Ø 10.80 mm. Beyond a diameter of Ø 2.90 mm, the flexible scope is fitted with a tip-articulation controller. All flexible scopes are fitted with image and lighting elements.

New products (patents pending) will supply brilliant and contrast-rich images with premium resolution, even when used together with video imaging systems and at ambient temperatures up to 140 °C.

Flexiscope
Designed as a universally applicable, all-in-one modular system, the Flexiscope series combines a high-performance light source and a camera. With the Flexiscope, lighting and image acquisition are incorporated in the same hand-held unit. A quick-fit adaptor is available for interfacing with a large variety of optical probes. Probe swapping is now only a matter of seconds!

The Flexiscope name lives up to its promise of maximum of universality, offering you a line of over 200 different probes to choose from. For each and every conceivable application, there is a suitable combination of Endoscope, Fiberscope, Microscope and wide-angle probe. Chip-in-the-tip Videoscope probes are also compatible with the Flexiscope line.

You are able to choose between several camera modules, depending on the application and probe type selected. There is also an adaptor that allows you to connect conventional rigid / flexible scopes with oculars. This well thought-out design facilitates ease of use and avoids costly enhancing or retrofitting. While fixed systems are typically used in quality assurance, in the lab or directly on the assembly line, the MP500 system is entirely portable and bundles a power source, camera, illuminator, video monitor and storage module all in one compact unit.

Flexiscope Workstations

Within the Flexiscope System you can chose between a halogen and high-powered xenon-workstation.

Both models are compatible with all available camera-modules. We also offer a low-cost version with the Flexiscope ECO2.

Flexiscope Camera Modules

AO has designed video cameras to interface with any AO scope to display whatever image you select on-screen, to serve as a discussion base for workgroup and / or recorded on appropriate storage media.

These CCD cameras combine seamlessly with all commercially available scopes. Various models have either built-in or remote video heads, and are offered in either single-chip or triple-chip technology.

In addition to the standard version, there is also a vario camera module available. The vario camera comes with a manual white balance, window function* and individual contrast and brightness control.

*Window Function = Only the part of the chip that contains image information is used for controlling the camera sensitivity, thereby optimizing the camera setting and image contrast even for ultra thin optical systems and short working distances.

Flexi-Videoscopes

The Videoscope contains a miniaturized camera chip in the tip and replaces the fibre-optic light guide that carries imaging information. The Videoscope employs electronic image transmission – a technology that greatly enhances the light sensitivity of the device and produces a full-format screen display free of jagged pixels.

Videoscopes come in various diameters and lengths and feature interchangeable lenses. This type of optical system is custom-engineered by our partner - Schölly, allowing us to offer you tailor-made solutions.

Controls embedded in the head allow the tip to be deflected in all four directions. Rugged multi-ply hoses made from stainless steel or tungsten braid make the Videoscope the tool of choice for adverse operating conditions. Our Videoscope is a universal tool that goes wherever you go, when combined with the MP500 Flexiscope system.

Optical Probes
A huge variety of optical probes are available for the Flexiscope system. The most important standard probes are

• Universal-Endoscope-Probes with different diameters and working lengths and the well-established system of interchangeable objectives.
• Miniflex-Endoscope-Probes with a diameter of 2.7mm, different working lengths and objectives including optional mirror-tubes.
• Flexible Miniflex Fiberscope-Probes with diameters between Ø 1.0 and Ø 2.4mm, different working lengths and objectives and high-definition image systems with 30,000 pixels.
• Microscope-Probes with magnifications between 10x and 150x.
• Overview Wide-Angle-Probes with different opening angles.

Apart from this standard range we have developed numerous specialty probes. Please send us your specifications if a customized probe is required.

Illumination
Available with state-of-the-art halogen or xenon light sources, AO Fiberoptic products stand out for their versatility, high performance and longevity.

Though extremely lightweight, our illuminators are rugged and technologically advanced. Package temperature and audible noise have been reduced to an absolute minimum. To facilitate mobile use, a self-contained accumulator-based power source is available.

Our optical light guides come in a large variety of different configurations – for example, as single or multi-branch models in fully flexible, semi-rigid or fully rigid designs. Illuminator configuration choices include ring or line shapes, giving you utmost flexibility in choosing the required dimensions and illumination patterns for your application! Our optical light guides are ideally suited for illuminating microscopy workbenches, for dimensional measurement tasks and inspection chores of any description.

Both illuminators and optical light guides are available as off-the-shelf configurations or custom designs tailored to your specific requirements.

Line Illuminators

Fiberoptic line illumination creates a homogenous and powerful light.

By using a cylindrical lens, a small light line or a light field can be adjusted, which is most useful for applications with image processing systems.

Apart from the standard versions we can offer customized line illuminators. Please send us your requirements and we will design a solution around your need.

Light Guides

Our light guides come as single- or multi-branch-versions with flexible, semi-flexible or rigid tubes.

Some areas of interest include microscopy, inspection applications along with quality insurance, automated image processing and dimensional measuring tasks.

Micro - Technical Scopes – Miniflex Product Line
AO offers small diameter rigid scopes and flexible scopes as mentioned in their respective categories.

The main idea is to offer small diameter scopes to allow you to view the smallest area possible without harm to you and the scope.

The Miniflex line of scopes is offered in diameters between Ø 0.50 mm (flexible scopes) to Ø 2.70 mm (rigid scopes). These items come in varying lengths as well.

Along with manual viewing, the inspection results of rigid scopes can be recorded by connecting a video adapter to an SLR or video camera. This configuration is achieved with image accessories consisting of a VCR, printer and/or computer to support image archiving.
